Description

Release Date – Monday 2nd September 2019

55,573 young men died flying with Bomber Command during World War Two; thats more than those who serve in the entire Royal Air Force today.
This film is probably the last public account of those that survived experiences and memories of serving in one of the most.

The majority of the young men that flew with Bomber Command, were barely out of their teens, some as young as 17. It was said that a 25 year old man, was an ‘old’ man in Bomber Command.

Strike hard, strike sure, was the command’s motto; and for the aircrews, it took astonishing courage to run the gauntlet of the German Nightfighters, flak and anti-aircraft guns,  night after night over occupied Europe. Their nerves were stretched to breaking point, never knowing if they were coming back from a raid or not.

Bomber Command didn’t win the Second World War, but victory could never have been achieved without their efforts. Facing unimaginable danger, the brave young men of Bomber Command; and the unselfless sacrifices they made for our freedom, should never be forgotten.

In Remembering Bomber Command, we have captured the memoirs of veterans, in their twilight years, which for the majority, is their ‘last post’
